About KingsGate Church Helston

KingsGate Church Helston began in 2013 after a clear call from God. In 2012, a number of prophetic words came that were too clear to ignore, so we prayed, listened, and stepped out in faith. From day one this has never been one person’s idea, but God speaking and a community responding.

Those first weeks were small and simple. A handful of people hungry for God met together, opened the Bible, worshipped, and prayed for our town. Romans 4:17 gave us courage as faith grew, friendships formed, and people began to find home.

“As it is written: ‘I have made you a father of many nations.’ He is our father in the sight of God, in whom he believed—the God who gives life to the dead and calls into being things that were not.” Romans 4:17

Our heart has always been Word and Spirit together. We want to live the New Testament pattern, not just talk about it. We teach the Bible, welcome the Holy Spirit, and make space for His gifts to bring freedom and hope. Many of us can point to moments in worship, prayer, or simple conversations where God has met us and changed us.

Gathering has looked different over the years. We have met in homes, hired halls, and now at The Old Cattle Market. Larger Sundays help us lift our eyes to Jesus together, while smaller groups give space to pray, study Scripture, and build friendship. Both matter. Both help us grow as a family learning to follow Jesus in everyday life.

From the beginning we’ve tried to keep our hands open to whatever God asks, whether small or costly. This includes running the free Supper Club at The Open Door Café, blessing our community in practical ways, and working with others who share a heart for Helston. We are also part of the Evangelical Alliance, which keeps us connected and accountable to the wider church across the UK.

KingsGate Church Helston is led by Simon and Vicky Rootham along with a growing team who share the same vision. Jesus is our cornerstone. We want to be a church that is faithful to Scripture, welcoming to people, and present in our community. We gather expecting lives to be changed by the power of the Holy Spirit, because Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
